Amokachi Joins FC Ifeanyi Ubah
New
FC IfeanyiUbah coach Daniel Amokachi has said his new club are one of
only a handful clubs he could coach in the country because they are up
to date with payments to the players.
Amokachi, who has joined the Nnewi side as head coach, told AfricanFootball.com that with his experience in the league having coached Enyimba and Nasarawa United there was no way he would work in a Nigeria premier league side that cannot pay the players salaries as and when due.
“Well if I’m not wrong I am about the first former Eagles player who decided to come home and coach in the Nigeria Premier league. So, I have never ran away from coaching in the Nigerian league,” he said.
“However it’s not in all clubs who I can coach because I cannot be in a club who cannot afford to pay players or owe players for about six months. That would be against my philosophy of coaching.
“I like to demand from my players, and when you have not paid them, of course I would not be able to shout on the players or give instruction the way I want because they would be playing on empty stomachs.”
Amokachi is expected to take charge of his first game today when FC IfeanyiUbah take on Sunshine Stars at the Rojenny Stadium in Oba, near Onitsha.
