The defensive midfielder, whose contract with Stade Rennais expired last June, will land in Turkey on a free.
Linked with a move to Australia, India and the Middle East this summer, the 32-year-old has opted to pursue his career in the Turkish Sϋper Lig, hoping for some descent time on the pitch after making a single appearance for Rennes last season.
“I have the ambition to find a new club, to get back on the pitch. I have no favourite destinations. The most important is to receive some offers and that people want to work with me,” Makoun had told footmercato.net two months ago.
“I will go where I can play football, where people want to work with me.”
At Antalyaspor, Jean II Makoun will reunite with his former Cameroon teammate Samuel Eto’o, who signed a three-year deal with the club in July, following a short stint at Serie A outfit Sampdoria.
Eto’o and Makoun enjoyed several international campaigns together with the Indomitable Lions, including the 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup.
And they both announced their retirement from international duty at the end of August 2014.
