Mikel, 28, has been at Chelsea since 2006 and made over 200 Premier League appearances for the four-time champions. The Nigerian midfielder has been around for so long at Stamford Bridge but seems likely to leave the club before the current transfer window shuts.
The midfielder has seen his playing time radically reduced since the arrival of Nemanja Matic from Benfica as the Serbian is quite clearly a much better defensive midfielder. Mikel only made 18 appearances in the Premier League for the Blues last season and is yet to play a single minute of the current campaign.
Turkish giants Besiktas are interested in Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, say the Daily Mail, but they also hold an interest in John Obi Mikel so could look to link the Premier League duo up in the Turkish Super Lig.
Mikel created just two chances in the top flight last season but did complete 91% of his passes. However, he only won 16 out of 47 attempted tackles and averaged just two defensive actions per game for the Blues, so one can clearly see why Jose Mourinho is keen to ship the Nigerian out of Stamford Bridge.
