WITH some of his key players securing contracts
abroad, Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia has said he hopes the players
that have secured clubs abroad will be released to play at the All
Africa Games next month.
Captain Okechukwu Azubuike had signed with Turkish side, Yeni Metalyaspor, while striker Junior Ajayi is on the verge of joining Esperance of Tunisia and Siasia says he had an understanding with the players about them playing at the All Africa Games and hoped their clubs will release them when the time comes.
“I’m happy that they are going abroad because that is what we want, for them to go there and get the experience and come back. In life you have to progress because you cannot be stagnant, you have to move on and that is what we expect from them.
“Hopefully they will come and I don’t think it will affect the team because they will come back and join us and I am happy they are making progress,” Siasia posited.
The Dream Team, as they are called, largely made up of home based players qualified for the All Africa Games at the expense of Zambia, but has seen a few of their players secured contracts abroad or on the verge, a development which may see the team weakend if the players are not released by their foreign clubs.
