Aubameyang and Dortmund off to flying start
Goals from Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang followed by a brace from Henrikh Mkhitaryan did the job for the ‘Black and Yellow’ at Signal-Iduna Park.
Reus scored the opener for the locals after 15 minutes of play after being set up by Shinji Kagawa, while pacey forward Aubameyang doubled Dortmund’s lead off a Marcel Schmelzer cross six minutes later.
The Gabonese international perfectly assisted Mkhitaryan a few minutes past the half-a-hour mark, to send his side with a three-goal lead into the break.
And the Armenian midfielder added to Gladbach’s misery in the second half, sending home number four after being picked out by Reus at the far post.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang didn’t waste his time in opening his season tally, after scoring 16 goals in 33 league appearances for Dortmund last term
