The only snag to this ambition remains meeting up with the players demands.

JUVE PONDERING LAMELA MOVE

It's fair to say that Erik Lamela hasn't had the best of times at Tottenham, with reports suggesting the Argentine has been offered to Juventus.

That's according to those chaps at Gazzetta dello Sport, who believe that Juve are more interested in filling their Arturo Vidal-shaped hole with Lamela's teammate Christian Eriksen - but Spurs are reluctant to sell their Danish playmaker.

According to the report, Juve will take their time over a possible deal for Lamela, which is only fair enough...

INLER IN LEICESTER SWITCH

It's been going on for a while, but Leicester look set to finally sign Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler.

The 31-year-old Switzerland international is expected to finalise his switch to the King Power on Monday in a deal worth around £3.5m, according to Gazzetta.

Let's hope he turns up to the press conference in similar fashion to this...

CITY NOT INTERESTED IN BERAHINO

Manchester City are set to pull out of the race for West Brom's Saido Berahino, who looks likely to join Tottenham.

The Daily Mail report that City have 'cooled their interest' in the 22-year-old, but offer no explanation as to why they have done so. Scoring three goals against last season's toughest defence might have helped their decision.

City's reluctance to bid for Berahino means Spurs are now the hot favourites to land the Baggies striker, who will certainly be required at White Hart Lane after Harry Kane was withdrawn on Saturday with fatigue.

Premier League champions Chelsea have confirmed the signing of left-back Baba Rahman from Bundesliga side Augsburg for an undisclosed fee.

Real Madrid have confirmed defender Sergio Ramos has agreed to sign a new contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2020.

Baba Rahman: Joins Chelsea for an undisc
The deal was confirmed by the club just moments after Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, with Rahman expected to replace Filipe Luis, who rejoined Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.
The 21-year-old spent 12 months with Augsburg after signing from SpVgg Greuther Furth in August 2014, making 31 appearances for the club in the 2014/15 campaign.
"I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can't wait to train with my new team-mates and very much looking forward to working with them and Mr Mourinho," he told Chelsea's official website.

"I am also looking forward to having the opportunity to meet the fans as soon as possible."
Mourinho added: "It is important because he is a left-back, so he can compete with [Cesar] Azpilicueta.
"At the same time, Azpilicueta can compete with [Branislav] Ivanovic for the right-back position, so he replaces Filipe Luis in the balance of the squad."

BORINI RETURN ON HOLD

Liverpool striker Fabio Borini looked set for an imminent return to Serie A - but his departure has reportedly hit a snag.

The Italian has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following the arrival of Christian Benteke, and has reportedly been in talks with Fiorentina and Lazio.

However, the Express believes Lazio have offered just £4m for the 24-year-old, with Liverpool keen to pick up twice that amount. A return to Sunderland on loan has been mooted, but Brendan Rodgers will undoubtedly want to sort out a permanent exit for Borini.

MADRID IN DE GEA PROMISE

Real Madrid will hand David de Gea a £12m signing-on fee if he sits out the remainder of his Manchester United contract and moves to Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

According to the Mirror, who have produced several variations of this story, Los Blancos will offer a staggering amount to the goalkeeper in a ploy to stop United's hardball tactics. Having not played for United so far this season, there is a possibility that De Gea could receive £12m while sitting up in the stands. Not shabby.

It does, however, seem to be just negotiation tactics on Madrid's part, who will be keen for United to part with the Spaniard ASAP.

CITY CLOSE TO OTAMENDI SWAP

Manchester City are reportedly close to tying up a deal for Valencia centre back Nicolas Otamendi, which will see Eliaqium Mangala move in the other direction on loan.

The Daily Mail reckons City will complete a 'cut-price' move for the Argentinian defender, as the Spanish club still owe a bit of money from the Alvaro Negredo deal - pushing Otamendi's down to £24m, significantly lower than his official release clause of £35m.

The curious part of this tale is the Mangala section, with the Frenchman set for a temporary move to the Mestalla. Mangala has been a pivotal player in the opening two games for City, having kept two clean sheets en route to an unbeaten start. The poor bloke just can't catch a break.

TOON AGREE THAUVIN DEAL

Newcastle are nearing a £12m move for Marseille winger Florian Thauvin, and will use Remy Cabella as part of the deal.

French publication RMC, a fairly reliable source, is reporting that the Magpies' summer-long pursuit of Thauvin is set to finally end in success, with Cabella expected to move out on loan to l'OM on loan with a view to a permanent move.

Thauvin, a similar player to Cabella, undoubtedly has potential - but his appearance in L'Equipe's 'Worst Ligue 1 Team' of last season will cause a bit of concern, having accumulated an average rating of 4.61. Ouch. Still, that's 0.15 better than Divock Origi.
