Africans in the EPL – club-by-club breakdown
There are a total of 46 African players in the first team squads in the Premier League, with the total boosted in the past week by the arrivals of Chancel Mbemba (Newcastle United), Rudy Gestede (Aston Villa), Max Gradel (Bournemouth) and Yohan Benalouane (Leicester City).
Chelsea’s Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah is not included in the tally, as he is set to complete a loan move to Roma in Italy (though this remains incomplete due to complications over a supposed contract with Fiorentina).
Only three teams – Arsenal, Manchester United and Sunderland – have no African players in their ranks.
