Joel Obi pulls out of Eagles AFCON clash
Torino midfielder Joel Obi has withdrawn from Saturday’s AFCON clash in Tanzania as he has not fully recovered from a muscle injury, officials have informed AfricanFootball.com

The left-sided midfielder, 24, is one of 18 foreign professionals Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has called up for the trip to Tanzania, but was not listed for Sunday’s Serie A game against Fiorentina.


The former Inter Milan player resumed training only on Friday, but has not regained the match fitness for Saturday’s showdown against Tanzania.

“It’s not yet official, but it looks like he’s not coming due to his injury,” a top team official told AfricanFootball.com

FC Taraba skipper Usman Mohammed is seen as a direct replacement for the Italy-based midfielder.

Joel Obi has suffered several injury setbacks since he broke into the Inter first team in September 2010.
