NIGERIAN PLAYERS IN UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
  UEFA Champions League Wrap : Igiebor, Musa, Ideye Suffer Defeats; Moses Simon Debuts
Four Nigeria internationals were in action in the opening round of the UEFA Champions League
Nosa Igiebor was on parade for his Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv in London on Wednesday as they were thrashed 4-0 in a game that saw him being booked, while fellow Nigeria star Mikel Obi was not listed for Chelsea. Midfielder Nosa Igiebor made his seventh start in the competition this term .
Igiebor had a golden opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 87th minute but he fluffed his lines from close range.

Brown Ideye suffered defeat with Olympiakos versus Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich. The ex West Brom man fired blanks as his team lost 3 - 0. Austria star David Alaba and Ideye were in action for 90 minutes for their respective teams.

At the GHELAMCO-arena , Moses Simon started for the first time in the Champions League in the Belgian champions’  tie against Lyon (1 - 1).

The pacy winger was replaced in the 70th minute, two minutes after
Miličević equalized for the home team.

On Tuesday, CSKA Moscow were beaten 1 - 0 by Wolfsburg. Ahmed Musa started and went the distance for the Russian team.


Arsenal: Despite trying out on some of her non regular players, Arsene Wenger didnt consider Alex Iwobi for the match against Zagreb.

And finally at the Etihad Stadium, things did not go as planned for Man City after they lost to Juventus . Kelechi Iheanacho was not involved as he was not registered for the competition.

Difficult start for Nigeria stars in Champions League



Greek champions Olympiacos paraded new recruit Brown Ideye when they hosted Bayern Munich, but they fell 3-0 with their Nigeria striker firing blanks even after he played the entire 90 minutes.

Nigeria winger Moses Simon featured for Belgian champions Gent as they forced a 1-1 draw at home with Lyon. The speedster was replaced in the 70th minute.

On Tuesday, Ahmed Musa led the attack of CSKA Moscow to Wolfsburg in Germany, but the Russian club lost 1-0.
