Euro 2016 qualifiers: Germany edge Scotland, Poland thrash Gibraltar

Thomas Muller continued his fine scoring form as his brace helped Germany to an entertaining 3-2 victory over Scotland in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Monday night.
The Bayern Munich forward opened the scoring on 18 minutes before Matts Hummels’ own goal drew the Scots level, only for Muller to again give the World Cup winners the lead just past the half hour mark.
Scotland again equalised, this time through Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur, before Ilkay Gundogan’s strike ten minutes into the second period secured the three points for Die Mannschaft, who remain two points clear at the top of Group D.
Group rivals Poland were too strong for minnows Gibraltar, as two goals apiece from Robert Lewandowski, Kamil Grosicki and Arkadiusz Milik helped their side to a resounding 8-1 win to keep within touching distance of the Germans.
Elsewhere, Northern Ireland’s late equaliser against Hungary means they stay top of Group F, one point ahead of Romania who played out a goalless draw with Greece.
An extra time Miguel Veloso strike earned Portugal a narrow 1-0 win over Albania, sending the Portuguse three points clear at the top of Group I after six matches played.
