Jack Wilshere suffers injury setback
Jack Wilshere is still not available for Arsenal
after suffering a setback in his comeback from a hairline crack to his
left fibula.
The dynamic English midfielder suffered the injury at the
start of August and was expected to be back after the current
international break. But the 23-year-old, who has been dogged by injuries throughout his career so far, remains sidelined and it is unknown when he will return.
“I have not seen him in the last two or three days,” manager Arsene Wenger told reporters. “He is progressing slowly and I can't tell you much more about it. I will talk with my medical staff.
“It is slower than expected as I expected him to be back and available after the break but unfortunately he will not be available for Saturday.
“He had a little setback and I have to know about it but I can't tell you much more as I have no medical information.”
Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck remains ruled out until next year after undergoing surgery on his knee but first-choice centre-backs Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker could both return against Stoke City this weekend.
