Jose Mourinho fires warning to Chelsea senior players
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has issued a stern warning to his senior players who lack "motivation, desire and commitment".
Mourinho has warned that he will replace senior stars in
his Chelsea line-up, and replace them with younger players, should they
not improve their attitudes and work ethic."Clearly it's an attitude perspective of some individuals," blasted Mourinho.
"And when you have individuals with that unstable attitude in terms of motivation, desire and commitment, you will pay."
The former Real Madrid mentor adds that he wants players who do not grow tired of winning.
"There are two sorts of champions: champions who win something — and there are lots of them — and champions who during their career win one, two, three, four, five, 10 or 20 titles.
"It's difficult to win every season but you can be a serial champion in your approach and attitude. This is the problem we have at this moment. We have champions, but not serial champions," he added.
The Blues have won just two of their opening seven Barclays Premier League matches to date, and prepare to face FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League tonight.
The Portuguese-born manager says they will continue to fight for both domestic and contintinental honours, but should they lose out on both, he will have no fear in fielding a team of youngsters.
"We are in an open situation. It is difficult to win the Premier League and Champions League, but possible.
"If the season goes in one direction and becomes closed, and we can't win, I will go just with the kids. I am ruthless.
"I have very good players, players I like as players, and I like their human qualities.
"It is a very good group of guys but 'untouchables' in football? Only consistency can give you that status.
"Generally I'm happy and positive. They fight and want to improve, but we have some players who you want more from."
