Norwich boss Alex Neil told the club's website on Mbokani's arrival: "Dieumerci is going to give us competition at the top end of the pitch, and I think we've needed a bit of strengthening there.
"He's a big, strong number nine - he can take the ball in, he's mobile and he's a real threat in the box. We're hoping all of those things come together for him.
"He's got a good track record and he's played Champions League football, so I think it's an exciting signing for us."

Press Association Sport understands the deal for the Northern Ireland international will cost the Baggies an initial £6million, rising to £8million with add-ons.
Evans won three Premier League titles after making his United debut in 2007 and has won 42 caps for his country.
"This is a great signing for the club," head coach Tony Pulis told the official West Brom website.
"Jonny brings a lot of experience and will be a big player for us - he's a player I've been watching for some time.
"We are delighted to have him on board."
Evans fell out of favour under United manager Louis van Gaal, playing only 17 times last season, and did not make a single first-team appearance at Old Trafford this term.
"I hope to push the Albion up the league," said Evans.
"It's a new, fresh challenge for me. One I'm looking forward to.
"I know a few of the lads already and I spoke to a couple, who highly recommended the club."

Manchester United want to blow £36million on a teenager from Monaco, Bayern join PSG in race for Coleman, Chelsea told to forget going after Marquinhos...
Real and United agreed a deal of £29m, a figure which included goalkeeper Keylor Navas going in the opposite direction in exchange for De Gea.
For Manchester United's part, they have told Sky Sports News HQ that they signed and sent all relevant documentation on time and that they have the evidence to prove it.
As a result, both clubs may consider an appeal over the likely cause of the delay, which may include a computer glitch.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Sky Sports News HQ: "La Liga has confirmed that the documents have not reached them on time and, as it stands, the transfer is not going to take place.
"Everything was done and everyone was waiting. David de Gea was at his girlfriend's house in Madrid, [Real Madrid president] Florentino Perez was at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Navas was there too and was waiting to pass a medical, and everything was signed and sent to Manchester.
"But the information is that the documentation didn't come back from Manchester United on time.
"Reports say the Navas paperwork came in at one minute past midnight in Spain and therefore did not reach La Liga on time, so the transfer is not going to happen.
"There is no precedent for this. Three years ago Fabio Coentrao could not go to Manchester United for the exact same reason, and Real asked the league if they could have five more minutes, and the league said 'no'.
"Nobody expects an extension, so everyone is reporting that the deal has not gone through."
Spurs seal signing of £22million Son
Spurs have announced the signing of South Korea international Heung-Min Son for around £22million from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year deal.![](http://images.football365.com/15/08/496x259/son-heung-min-bayer-leverkusen-football_3342614.jpg)
A 44-cap South Korea international, Son has spent his whole senior career in the Bundesliga, making his name at Hamburg before joining Leverkusen in 2013.
Son emerged as one of the Bundesliga's leading attackers at the BayArena, scoring 29 goals in 87 appearances from an advanced position, while he also scored for South Korea in last summer's World Cup.
Son, who is adept with both feet, will wear the number 7 shirt at Spurs - who he branded as "a big club".
"Spurs is such a big club and a really good team. My goal has always been to play in the Premier League and I have a great opportunity to do that now with Tottenham - I am really happy about this.
"I am also very pleased and honoured to work together with good players such as Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and all the players at Spurs. I'd like to help them perform and, together with them, make our team even more successful.
"I am a player who really loves football. I learned the game under my father, who worked as a football coach in my school," he explained. "I've loved the game since I was a child and formally started to play when I was 10 years old.
"I told my father that I really wanted to become a professional footballer and, because football is in my blood, I've always trained hard with the dream to one day play in Europe and the Premier League.
"I've tried hard to learn many things throughout my career so far, I've played many games already and gathered a lot of experience for my age. That makes me play better and score goals.
"I'm very excited to play at White Hart Lane," he added. "I haven't played at the stadium before but I'm looking forward to going there and performing for the Spurs fans as soon as possible. The support I get from the fans motivates me more and more.
"In the Premier League there are a lot of good players so I have to really work hard and be prepared to show my ability. I like to play a passing game and prefer to work with offensive players who are dominant and can scare the opponents. I am right footed, but I've trained with both feet so I can use them freely. Bold and daring – this is how I like to try to play."

It is Wolfsburg, however, that have reached agreement to sign Dante, pending a medical, for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said the central defender had asked to be released after losing his place in the starting line-up; Dante made his final appearance for Bayern as a substitute in Saturday's 3-0 win over Leverkusen.
Dante will link up with his former Bayern team-mate at Wolfsburg, his compatriot Luiz Gustavo, who moved to Lower Saxony two years ago.
Wolfsburg finished runners-up in the Bundesliga last season and also won the German Cup.
Everton set to confirm Mori and Leandro
Everton expect to complete the signings of Ramiro Funes Mori and Leandro Rodriguez on Friday, manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed. The transfer talk involving his side may be focused on the possible departure of defender John Stones to Chelsea but the Toffees remain keen to strengthen their squad.
Everton have been linked with River Plate defender Funes Mori during the transfer window and the player was seen watching from the stands with a club scarf in his hand as Martinez's side lost 2-0 at home to Manchester City.
"Ramiro was in the building yesterday (Thursday), we hope that we're going to complete the deal some time today," said Martinez.
"International clearance could take a few days. We're very excited about having him."
Forward Rodriguez, who plays for River Plate Montevideo, is also on his way to Goodison Park, according to Martinez, as the manager attempts to build a team capable of improving on last season's 11th place Premier League finish.
"Leandro is going to be announced as well later today," added Martinez.
"Leandro is one of the young players we identified to give them a path and allow them to develop in our system.
"We're very excited, he's someone who can produce a goal out of nothing, hard working with a really strong combination."
