
UCL: Ambrose Advances With Celtic; Rabiu, Madu Crash
Nigerians Efe Ambrose, Rabiu Ibrahim and Kingsley Madu were in action for their respective clubs in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League second qualifying round second-leg matches.
Ambrose was a 52nd minute substitute for Mikael Lustig as Celtic defeated Stjarnan 4-1.
The home side scored first through Olafur Karl Finsen in the seveth minutes, but goals from Nir Biton and Charles Mulgrew, gave Celtic a 2-1 lead before the half-time break.
Two late goals in the 88th and 90th minutes from Leigh Griffith and Stefan Johansen respectively, gave Celtic a 6-1 aggregate win.
In the first leg played inside Celtic Park, Celtic won 2-0.
Meanwhile, Trencin who paraded Ibrahim and Madu against Steaua Bucuresti, crashed out of this season’s Champions League despite defeating the Romanian side 3-2. Trencin lost the first leg 2-0 at home.
Ibrahim was called into action in the 73rd minute, while Madu saw 90 minutes of action.
