Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho insists tonight’s Champions League clash against Dynamo Kiev is not a must-win game, but acknowledges his side cannot lose.
Yet Mourinho is not concerned, and feels there is no need to panic ahead of this evening’s clash at Stamford Bridge.
“I am completely convinced that we are going to qualify first,” he said. “The reality is that the game [tonight] is not a game we have to win – it's a must-not-lose, but not a must-win.”
The Portuguese manager acknowledged that he and the club are going through a difficult period, with six losses in their first 11 League matches, yet he says he knew a rough time such as this would come, and feels well-prepared.
“In May 2004, after [Porto's win in] the Champions League final, I said in the press conference that one day in my career bad results will come,” he said. “I said that I would deal with that period with the honesty and dignity that I did at the time. It took time but now we are in that time and I am stable and strong to face it.”
Kick-off against Kiev is scheduled for 21:45 South African time.
