The 26-year-old Ighalo, who has fired seven goals in the English Premier League, was the arrowhead of what looked like the starting XI against Swaziland in the team’s final training in Abuja on Wednesday evening.
That meant Seattle Sounders star Obafemi Martins will most likely start from the bench.
The 31-year-old ‘Oba’ looked sharp and daring in Wednesday’s training despite jet lag.
The likely starters in attack are skipper Ahmed Musa and Belgium-based Moses Simon.
Chelsea ace Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi from Lazio will marshal a midfield that has the industrious Sylvester Igbonu, while the defence has picked itself out – goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, fullbacks Shehu Abdullahi and Elderson Echiejiele as well as central defenders Efe Ambrose and Godfrey Oboabona.
Sunshine Stars ace Paul Onobi looked creative for the second team, but it seems he will not be brought in so as not to disrupt the rhythm in the middle of the park.
