TRANSFER GOSSIP
Danny Ings to join Liverpool, Saido Berahino is a target for Man City and RVP is surplus to United requirements.Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in up-for-sale Karim Benzema, Man City will make Paul Pogba the world's highest-paid player, West Ham are after a new striker...
Plenty of Pep talk, Manchester United offer £18m for Clyne, Johnson to West Ham, Liverpool bid for Lacazette
'Danny Ings WILL join Liverpool at the end of the season after the Reds won the race for his signature,' says the Daily Mirror with confidence. This column is unsure just how much competition Liverpool faced for a player who did not score a single goal between mid-February and mid-May - though his ten PL goals for the season is still more than Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini managed in total.
There is fanciful talk of both Manchester clubs being interested in Ings but that seems unlikely - a 'free' transfer to Liverpool (which will cost between £3m and £5m) is probably the best Ings could have possibly hoped for. We can only assume that he is not the only striker Liverpool will buy this summer.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror also claims that Liverpool want Inter star Mateo Kovacic to replace the departing Steven Gerrard. The 21-year-old Croat has scored five Serie A goals this season.
BERAHINO FOR CITY?
We knew before clicking on the link in the Daily Mirror that the journalist linking Saido Berahino - coincidentally dropped by Tony Pulis at the weekend - to Manchester City is John Cross, who told us in December that 'Liverpool could hijack Spurs' Saido Berahino transfer'.
Berahino has certainly had a decent season - scoring 12 Premier League goals - but we are struggling to believe that City would see him as a viable replacement for Edin Dzeko or Stevan Jovetic. Cross also links Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere and Tottenham left back Danny Rose with moves to City.
RVP FOR SALE
This is hardly a surprise - or indeed new gossip - but the fact that it comes from The Guardian's Jamie Jackson does give it extra credence. He claims that 'Robin van Persie is fighting for his Manchester United future, with the club ready to consider offers for the Dutchman this summer'.
