TRANSFER GIST...
The Paul Pogba rumours have been flying like gold-plated bumblebees in the last few weeks, and the Guardian now reports that the Juventus midfielder is top of Louis van Gaal's shopping list with the Manchester United manager in charge of another £150 million summer war chest.Pogba has been linked with the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain of late, but according to the Guardian, United have given Van Gaal the green light to pursue their former midfielder for as much as Juve's Dr Evil-esque asking price of €100 million (£71.5m).
As if that wasn't enough sources suggest that Van Gaal will move for former protege Thomas Muller -- with the Bayern Munich forward thought to be available for between £30-40 million -- while the Mirror reports that United are scouting pacey Lazio forward Felipe Anderson. Yes United fans, that's another Brazilian Anderson.
Still, the Guardian says that signing Pogba and (understandably) keeping David De Gea are the club's priorities -- though Petr Cech is a serious contender should he depart for Real Madrid -- while Pogba's club teammate Arturo Vidal is back on the radar with Borussia Dortmund duo Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels also wanted.
David De Gea has agreed terms over a move to Real Madrid, with Man United targeting Petr Cech as his replacement, while James Milner will snub Arsenal for Liverpool.
Man Utd want Harry Kane as well as Gareth Bale, Chelsea are tracking Pedro, Toby Alderweireld and several others, while Andre Ayew is heading to England.
Pellegrini to be given a Manchester City lifeline, new five-year deal for Ibe, £35m De Bruyne to City...
One week he's staying, one week he's going, all along he's putting in some excellent performances for Manchester United. This week can be safely filed into the 'he's going' category, as, according to reports in Spain, David De Gea has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid.
Emanating from Spanish newspaper Marca, the reports claim that Real will finally snare their man after offering a five or six-year contract worth £4million-a-year. They go on to say that the only obstacle is Real agreeing the transfer and fee with United - a fairly substantial obstacle at that - but that the deal is done. Sky Sports have since rubbished the reports, but there's no smoke without fire.
With his contract expiring next summer, De Gea holds all the cards. His progression at United has been rapid, and he has once more been their star performer this year by quite a margin. The 24-year-old could start talking to clubs about a free transfer in just eight months, so will United blink first?
Marca aren't the first and certainly won't be the last to claim that De Gea will be usurping countryman Iker Casillas sooner rather than later, but it doesn't provide pleasant reading for worried United fans.
UNITED DRAW UP REPLACEMENTS SHORTLIST
Fear not though, United fans. Louis van Gaal, who once again insisted yesterday, "we want him to stay and I hope he shall sign", has already drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements for the Spaniard. "We also have a list of goalkeepers who can replace him because we have to be organised always," added the boss.
Thankfully for everyone, the Daily Express have reported/postulated/looked at keepers who are available this summer in order to tell us just who could be on that list. Predictably, Spurs' Hugo Lloris and Asmir Begovic of Stoke are two of the three reported targets, while they have launched Petr Cech's headgear into the proverbial ring.
With Chelsea seemingly reluctant to sell to Premier League title rivals Arsenal, it's difficult to see them agreeing a deal to provide United with a cheap and able replacement for De Gea. At £10m United would be stupid to turn down the 32-year-old, but they'd face a battle to convince Jose Mourinho to sell when other suitors will be more than ready to bid.
MILNER TO SNUB ARSENAL FOR LIVERPOOL
"James Milner will quit Manchester City to join Liverpool on a free transfer" is the bold claim from the Daily Mirror's David Anderson on Friday evening. With the Manchester City midfielder out of contract this summer, speculation is rife as to his next destination. It appears the England international has made his choice.
Milner's exit from City seems certain, with the 29-year-old keen for more game-time and the club stalling on offering him a new contract. Arsenal and Liverpool have long been considered among the front-runners for his signature, but the Mirror claim that, although they cannot offer Champions League football, Milner feels his playing opportunities will be more enhanced at Anfield.
As for the contract, the Reds will reportedly make the former Aston Villa man one of their highest earners with a £100,000-a-week deal.
