Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh has picked CSKA Moscow forward, Ahmed Musa as the new captain of the team, dousing every insinuation on Vincent Enyeama.
Speaking on Brila FM (Nigeria’s Sports Radio) in the early hours of Wednesday, Oliseh insists Enyeama is no longer the team’s captain, but decided to give the captainship armband to Musa.
“I have decided to pick Ahmed Musa as the new captain of the Super Eagles, because we have to commit leadership position to people who can lead by example.
“It is not a question of how anybody feels about it, but that is the new order and everybody has to conform to the new rule. I don’t want to continue relying on someone who is thinking of retirement or something else, we want to build a team and remain focus on the task”, Oliseh stated.
It was a bit of drama and chaos between Enyeama and Oliseh in the Eagles Belgium camp on Tuesday. we gathered both the coach and the Lille goalkeeper shouted at each other in camp before Oliseh later called the hotel security officials to bundle Enyeama out of the team on Tuesday.
The crisis continued for long, before the Nigeria Football Federation chieftains intervened by begging Enyeama to return to the camp, the major reason given was that Enyeama reported to camp late to camp; but the NFF told Oliseh that they had pardoned him to come late because of his burial. The situation which did not go down well with the coach. He later insisted it is either Enyeama leaves or he walked out of the camp.
But in the end sanity prevailed, both Enyeama and the coach, Oliseh are in camp; but the new development is that Vincent Enyeama is no longer the captain, the official captain of the team now is Ahmed Musa. Nigerians await the NFF’s reaction on the matter.
