The Nigeria Under 23s have qualified for the football event of the All Africa Games following their 2 - 1 win over their Zambian counterparts at the junior chipolopolo's backyard on Sunday afternoon.
In the opening 15 minutes, both teams tried to size each other up. Mukuka Mulenga and Shadreck Malambo tried their luck from distance but it did not pose any problem to goalkeeper Daniel Emmanuel.
On 34 minutes, the Dream Team took a precious lead after sustained pressure, thanks to Taiwo Awoniyi .
Ronald Kampamba had a chance to level matters early in the second half but he fluffed his lines in front of goal, shooting wide from close range.
Fifteen minutes from time, Friday Samu conjured up an equalizer after being set up by Shadreck Malambo.
In the 86th minute, Taiwo Awoniyi extinguished the hopes of the Zambian fans by scoring his second goal in the colours of the Dream Team.
Viva viva Awoniyi.. this is what we need! Young lads with Zeal. wish him the best and hope he wont become heady or go the way of Kelechi Iheanacho.. who got to lime light and started acting up..no thanks to his father.
