LIlle Coach: Enyeama Not To Blame For Our 6-1 Defeat
Enyeama made just one save all game as Les Parisiens scored from six of the seven
attempts they mustered on target.
It was an evening to forget for the Nigerian shot-stopper, who endured the nadir when PSG’s Uruguayan marksman, Edinson Cavani, chipped nonchalantly past him to make it 2-0 in the fourth minute prompting the shell-shocked 34-year-old to call for a change of gloves.
It did not translate to a change in fortunes for Enyeama as he shipped in four more goals as his side suffered their heaviest defeat of the season.
Girard has now moved to offer words of comfort for his Nigerian charge, insisting that the Nigerian was not responsible for the heavy defeat.
“It was not the goalkeeper’s (Enyeama’s fault). I won’t blame any individual (for the loss) because as a team, we did not play well enough.
“We suspected it was not going to be easy to get around Paris.
“But to see what happened, it was not imaginable, especially in light of what was produced in recent times. PSG is a good team, that’s one thing, but for us to have behaviour like that, it’s another.
“I know these are things that happen. After three, four minutes, it was already 2-0 down, it means a lot. These are bad times, it’s never fun to take a ‘cap’ like this. I told the boys I was not happy,” he was quoted as saying on the club’s official website, www.losc.fr.
