Rohr Replaces Injured Balogun With Agbo For Zambia Clash

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has replaced injured defender Leon Balogun with Granada midfielder Uche Agbo for next month’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier away to Zambia’s Chipolopolo in Ndola  according to a media release from the Communication department of the Nigerian Football Federation.
Balogun who was initially listed in the 23-man for the game sustained a muscle injury in his club Mainz's 3-2 loss at home to Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday.
Agbo, 20, a former Flying Eagles defender, has played five games for Granada in La Liga this season and is in line to make his senior national team debut.

Smalling backs  Rooney after victory over Leicester

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling believes it is only a matter of time before Wayne Rooney starts firing and is back in the starting line-up.
Smalling stood in as captain as regular skipper Rooney was dropped to the bench for Saturday's 4-1 victory over Premier League champions Leicester City at Old Trafford.
Rooney's lack of form has been a major talking point this season, and United manager Jose Mourinho made the decision to take the 30-year-old out of the starting team and only introduced him late in the game.
Despite his ponderous form for club and country, Smalling says Rooney remained as vocal as ever on Saturday.
Smalling said: "He was the same, as in before the game when we're all getting ready. He is often one of the most vocal and he was the same on Saturday.
"Regardless of whatever the situation is, whatever game, whether he is on the bench or playing or whatever, he is always that same type of character and that's why he is England's main man and our main man.
"I think he's a very experienced guy and he's played that many games that I think it'll only be a matter of time before he's back in there and firing again because he's quality."

Jurgen Klopp dismisses Premier League title talk

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has brushed off talk of his side mounting a title challenge following a strong start to the 2016/17 Premier League season.
The Merseysiders are flying high in fourth place, level with Arsenal on 13 points after recording a convincing 5-1 victory over 10-man Hull City at the weekend.
The manner in which the Reds have ignited their campaign has impressed many pundits, while their early-season form has also seen bookies make Klopp's side second favourites for the league title.
However, Klopp is having none of it, insisting it is still too early for end-of-season predictions.
When asked about the bookies' odds on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, Klopp said: "I don't understand the numbers.
"I know where I come from, you keep your money, you don't do something like this!"
He added: "It is not important for me but it is better to have an optimistic mood around.
"At this moment, Liverpool feels good. We had this very important game against Hull and we did it in a really impressive way.
"It's nice to see [the table] but the one problem is the number, it is six games now so it's at an early stage which is the only problem.
"I'm happy about this but I know there is a long way to go."

Ronaldo will thank me as the season progresses.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has denied reports claiming he has fallen out with star forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo made his feelings known towards the Frenchman when substituted in the 2-2 draw with minnows Las Palmas at the weekend, but Zidane has now moved to dampen any talk of unrest.
Initially Zidane suggested that it was to rest Ronaldo for more important fixtures, and the Los Blancos manager insists that the three time Balon D'or winner will thank him for the decision as the season progresses.
"Everything is normal," he told reporters ahead of the Champions league clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
"It is not just Cristiano. All players can be angry when they leave the pitch. We're already thinking about tomorrow’s game. I took the decision for the good of the player.
"Nothing has changed. All this talk [about the incident], more than about tomorrow's game, well we must live with that. We are relaxed. I'm not stupid, and he is intelligent. We are all here for the same thing."

I Recommended Isaac Success To Super Eagles Coach
Watford Star Odion Ighalo : I Recommended Isaac Success To Super Eagles CoachWatford striker Odion Ighalo has exclusively informed  that he recommended teammate at The Vic, Isaac Success, to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr when he was questioned about the qualities of the striker.

Ighalo has been excused from the game to attend his father’s burial in Ekpoma, Edo State but the Hornets are still represented in the roster, with Isaac Success called up to the senior national team for the first time in his career.

“I have not been invited because my dad’s burial falls on that weekend (October 8-9). I already told the coach and he understands me, ” Ighalo told on Thursday evening.

“Then the coach asked me about Success and I told him he can pick Success, that he is a good player.

“I need to give my dad the last respect. ”

Isaac Success, 20, is one of four Golden Eaglets players class of 2013 called up, the others being Wilfred Ndidi (Genk), Musa Mohammed (Istanbul Basaksehir) and Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City).

“Wayne Rooney’s form is like Man United’s form,”

Wayne Rooney
Jose Mourinho has issued a defence of sorts over Wayne Rooney’s struggle for form.
Rooney has failed to impress so far this season, with Mourinho using the Manchester United captain in a number of different playing positions, all to no avail.
He started the season as a No. 10 and scored one goal and assisted a further two in three Premier League games.
But he has also dropped into midfield, and his terrible performances were highlighted in a week in which United lost three successive games.
Manchester City, Feyenoord and Watford all defeated Mourinho’s side within eight days, before United beat Northampton in the EFL Cup.
Rooney started as a striker in that victory, but is expected to be dropped for the visit of Leicester on Saturday.
“Wayne Rooney’s form is like Man United’s form,” said the United manager when asked of his captain’s recent displays. “We are a team. We are not Wayne Rooney and we all started well, we all won four matches and we all lost three matches in the week, so that’s not Wayne Rooney.
“To be honest he didn’t play against Feyenoord, so he was not directly involved in that match.
“Everybody is involved in every match, even the ones who are not playing.”

ARSENAL NEW ERA TO BE DOMINANT OVER CHELSEA.

Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger believes that his Arsenal side are welcoming in a ‘new era’ where they can be dominant over Chelsea.
Chelsea have had the upper hand in the fixture, not losing to Arsenal in the league since 2011.
Yet Wenger believes that his team can change the “inconvenient facts” of recent history by asserting their dominance over Chelsea.
“It is an important game for us because we feel we are on the way up and Chelsea is a good test and a good opportunity for us to continue our progress,”Wenger said.
“Chelsea in the last 10 years had very, very strong teams. You realise that today as well. Before that period, we were always beating them, after they were always the stronger team for a few years.
“Now, it looks like it’s a new era where it’s a bit more balanced again and we feel we are progressing at the moment so we have a good opportunity to grab and to change what I call ‘the inconvenient facts’ of the recent years.”
Wenger also discussed Antonio Conte’s likely tactics:
“Chelsea have always come to the Emirates with a strong defensive solidity and to [try to] catch us on the break, because they know we like to take the initiative.
“[Antonio] Conte has very strong players in transition, like Hazard, like Willian, like Diego Costa. For us to stop them, these three players, from being dangerous will be one of the keys of the game.”

“I can’t protect my players from you (the media)

Jose Mourinho Football365
Jose Mourinho insists he has not been affected by criticism from the media following Manchester United’s recent run of poor results.
United’s midweek victory over Northampton in the League Cup ended a run of three-consecutive defeats, a string of results which led to plenty of scrutiny of Mourinho.
“I am not upset with anything, I am such a lucky guy that I can’t be upset with anything,” he said.
“The only thing that upsets me is the criticism to my players, my players are my players, I should protect them.
“I can’t protect my players from you [the media], it is a feeling of frustration. With the Einsteins is fine, they need money.
“I am a good man, I am a man of good will, I do a lot of charity so why not feed the Einsteins as well.”
Despite admitting he needs to protect his players, Mourinho has publicly criticised Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw in the past month.
However, the former Chelsea boss has defended his own actions.
“It’s a learning process, you make a mistake, especially individual mistakes then you have to learn,” he said.
“A team that works to a game plan during the week, you try to identify agreements between us and then individual mistake punishes you.
“Criticism is part of the process, it helps them learn how to deal with criticism from you (the media).”
Meanwhile, Mourinho ruled Anthony Martial out of the visit of Leicester on Saturday, although Shaw and Mkhitaryan will be available.
Martial suffered concussion against Watford, and was controversially allowed to play on, but the 53-year-old says the forward will miss out with a calf problem.
“Martial is not available. He is out because of the contusion in the calf and ankle area. I think you know when that happened,” he added,
“You guys are confusing concussion with contusion.”

Ovie Ejaria: Profiling Liverpool’s latest academy debutant

Ovie Ejaria became the latest Liverpool youngster to step into first-team action, making his debut in Tuesday’s League Cup win at Derby County.

It was a night of firsts for Liverpool as they breezed past Nigel Pearson’s Rams with a routine 3-0 victory to seal their place in the competition’s fourth round.
Loris Karius made his long-awaited debut and kept a clean sheet on return from injury, while Marko Grujic marked his first Reds start with an impressive display and Ragnar Klavan notched his maiden Liverpool goal—a moment the Estonian clearly enjoyed.
But while memorable nights for each of those players, it perhaps proved an even more special occasion for Ejaria, who was handed his competitive debut by Jurgen Klopp as a late substitute, replacing Robert Firmino.
Playing the final 12 minutes, Ejaria became the latest youngster to step into first-team action, but who is the 18-year-old?

Ovie Ejaria

It hasn’t been the easiest journey into the professional game and Liverpool’s first team for Ejaria, who was born and raised in London.
A boyhood Arsenal fan, Ejaria joined the Gunners’ academy at an early age and progressed through the ranks, seemingly set for a bright future.
But aged 16, his aspirations were dealt a crushing blow, released by the north London side in summer 2014 after nine years as a youth player.
Without a club, Liverpool swooped in for Ejaria—reportedly ahead of Man United—a move which under-23s boss Michael Beale was a key factor behind, having known him well from his time at Chelsea’s development centre and as his ‘chauffeur’ to Sunday league training.
Ejaria joined the under-18s at Liverpool’s academy base in Kirkby where he adapted to new surroundings, and it didn’t take long for him to showcase the potential Beale instantly saw.
“Even at that age you could see what unbelievable technical ability he had,” Beale explained in September. “Now he’s starting to show that and I’m so pleased for him.”
Enjoying a productive debut season with the under-18s, Ejaria earned under-21 recognition—a signal of his rapid progress—and further involvement followed last season; aided by scoring a winning goal for the youth team in front of Klopp days after the German’s arrival.

Catching the Liverpool boss’ attention, Klopp quickly discovered he had a real talent on his hands—one he has taken little time in incorporating into his first team.
Ejaria’s progress saw him included in first-team pre-season duties, with the youngster handed his bow at Tranmere Rovers, and his eye-catching displays earned him a place in the US tour squad.
Progress was frustratingly halted by injury, but his bright friendly showings were not forgotten, and Ejaria was named on the bench in the Reds’ 2-1 Premier League win at Chelsea.
He didn’t feature at Stamford Bridge, but was made to wait just four more days to make the debut he wouldn’t have dreamt of just over two years ago upon his Arsenal release.

Style of Play

WIGAN, ENGLAND - Sunday, July 17, 2016: Liverpool's Oviemuno Ejaria in action against Wigan Athletic during a pre-season friendly match at the DW Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)
An exciting prospect Beale described to This Is Anfield after his debut as “a lovely technical player,” Ejaria is a natural central midfielder.
The 18-year-old boasts outstanding innate ability and impressive game intelligence which enables him to play various central roles—deployable in a box-to-box position, as the primary attacking influence from the centre of the park or even as a powerful No. 10.
A tall, rangy figure, Ejaria’s physicality also stands out, which often saw the youngster dominate midfields at youth level, and his developing wiry frame points toward a driving force in the making.
This physical development will naturally aid Ejaria’s defensive contribution, which Beale noted has also developed, saying: “He has always been a lovely technical player but now he is much more mature in his decision making and in his application to his defensive duties.”
Technique combined with power and improved aggression makes him such a prospect, with the youngster capable of driving past opponents to inject tempo into final-third play, where he looks to contribute with clever passes around the box or surge inside for a shooting chance.
Such features were seen in pre-season as he instantly impressed with the maturity of his play—happy to receive the ball either side of defensive lines.
This comfort in dropping deep to receive possession before driving forward or executing a penetrative pass, and equal happiness to play in the final third where he can use his quick feet to trick defenders, makes him a tough player to control.
One feature that really shone in the friendlies was his self-belief: Ejaria instantly threw himself into action alongside first-team stars, commanding the ball, dictating play and taking a leading role.
But perhaps most crucial is his willingness to learn, which Beale paid tribute to after his Pride Park bow:
“Ovie has developed so much since he joined the academy.
[…]
“He is a fantastic boy to work with both for his ability and also his desire to learn and improve.
“This has enabled him to make huge developments in the last 12 months.”
This confidence and desire to improve will take Ejaria forward, and if he can continue to develop his talent, a long-term role in Klopp’s squad could be earned.

Exciting Anfield Future

WIGAN, ENGLAND - Sunday, July 17, 2016: Liverpool's Oviemuno Ejaria in action against Wigan Athletic during a pre-season friendly match at the DW Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)
The latest from the academy production line to enjoy first-team recognition, Ejaria certainly has an exciting future ahead of him at Anfield.
His style of play, attributes—both technically and physically—and willingness to learn make him an ideal prospect for Klopp to nurture over the coming months and seasons, developing into a future first-team player.
Previously described as a “well-educated” player by Klopp, the fluidity and intelligence of his game and his suitability to various roles offer real encouragement for future progression.
First-team chances are likely to remain restricted to such controlled occasions as against Derby for now, which Ejaria will hope continue to be forthcoming in cup and domestic competitions throughout the season.
But bedding Ejaria into first-team duties will only assist his progress for when the he does inevitably make the full transition to becoming a member of Klopp’s squad.
As always, patience will be required, but for Ovie Ejaria, the future is bright.
Nigerian wonder kid trains With Liverpool First-Team Pre-Hull City match

Liverpool held their penultimate training session ahead of their weekend clash with Hull City at Anfield, with Nigerian former Under 17 invitee Ovie Ejaria in attendance.

The 18-year-old was handed his competitive debut after he was introduced in the 77th minute during the Reds 3-0 victory over Derby County in the League Cup on Tuesday and was an unused substitute against Chelsea a week ago.

Pundits has predicted that Ejaria would be part of the 18-man squad that will face Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday.

UEFA Champions League review

UCL witnessed  plenty of goals as two English clubs triumphed emphatically whilst Totenham stumbled and Cristiano Ronaldo made his mark against a former club.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata scored late on for Real Madrid as they downed a courageous Sporting CP 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The reigning champions looked to be heading for defeate when Bruno Cesar netted after the break but Ronaldo fired in a stunning free-kick against his former club in his 350th appearance for Real before Morata broke Portuguese hearts with a 94th minute header.
Elsewhere Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick as Manchester City comfortably beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 in their Champions League opener at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
City took and an early lead when Aguero stabbed home a low cross from Aleksandar Kolarov in the eighth minute. The hosts continued to dominate the game and doubled their advantage when Aguero tucked home from the penalty spot on 28 minutes after Ilkay Gundogan was brought down by Christoph Kramer.
The second half continued in the same vein and Aguero completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute when he received a through ball from Raheem Sterling, before Kelechi Iheanacho rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.
Meanwhile, fellow English side Leicester City made their Champions League bow in fine style as a brace from Riyad Mahrez helped Claudio Ranieri's side to a 3-0 win over Club Brugge.
The Premier League champions were ahead early through Marc Albrighton before Mahrez doubled their lead with a curling free-kick in the 29th minute adding a penalty just after the hour mark to seal the win.
Borussia Dortmund eased to a comfortable 6-0 victory over Legia Warsaw in their UEFA Champions League Group F opener in Poland on Wednesday night.
Dortmund were in control early on as Mario Gotze headed home Ousmane Dembele's cross in the seventh minute. The visitors were dominant and Sokratis Papastathopoulos made it 2-0 from a set-piece situation in the 15th minute.
The game was effectively over as a contest two minutes later when Marc Bartra tapped home from close range after another set-piece.
After the break Legia rarely threatened as BVB added more goals to their tally. Raphael Guerreiro, Gonzalo Castro and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed the rout in the second half.
Europa League holders Sevilla frustrated Italian champions Juventus in Turin as they came away with a 0-0 draw.

The Super Eagles handler has debunked claims that he rejected the accommodation given to him by the
country’s football ruling body

Nigeria technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has refuted claims that he rejected the apartment given to him by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Rohr began his Super Eagles spell with a 1-0 win over Tanzania in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo. And having agreed to reside in the country before landing his job, he said it would have been unwise of him to reject his accommodation.
“I never rejected any apartment,” Rohr told the NFF website.
“I might have spoken to a few people who I believed to be genuinely interested in me, saying that the apartment was very big and I joked that I might get lost inside it when I start to live there, but I never rejected it.
“When the federation engaged me, and told me I had to live in Nigeria, I agreed to it because I believed that my base has to be in the country where I work. I did the same in Niger, Burkina Faso and Gabon, and I do not see it any differently in Nigeria.
“The federation moved to rent an apartment for me, and this is a good gesture that shows their commitment. If I have issues with it, it should be done directly through the Federation and not on the pages of the media,” he concluded.

GOAL EXTRACT FROM ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC'S BOOK: 'I AM ZLATAN'

I still don’t know what [Guardiola’s] problem was. Or, well... I don't think the guy can handle strong personalities. He wants nice school boys. And worse: he runs away from his problems. He can't look them in the eye and that makes everything so much worse.
So, it got worse [at Barcelona] when the ash cloud from the volcano on Iceland came. No flights at all in Europe and we were going to San Siro to face Inter. We took the bus. Some brain-dead person at Barca thought that was a good idea. I was free from injuries then. But the trip became a disaster. It took 16 hours and we were all worn out when we arrived in Milan. It was our most important game so far that season, the semi-final of the Champions League, and I was prepared for mayhem, booing and whistling at my old arena. But that was no problem; that drives me. But the situation apart from that was terrible. And I think Guardiola had a hang up on Mourinho.
Jose Mourinho is a big star. He had won the Champions League already with Porto. He was my coach at Inter. He's cool. The first time he met Helena he whispered to her: "Helena, you only have one mission. Feed Zlatan, let him sleep, keep him happy!" The guy says what he wants. I like him. He's the leader of an army. But he also cares. He was sending me text messages all the time in Inter asking how I was feeling. He's the opposite of Guardiola. If Mourinho lights up a room, Guardiola pulls the blinds. I guess Guardiola was now trying to measure up to him.
"It's not Mourinho we are facing - it's Inter," he said, like we thought we'd play ball with the coach. And then he pulled his philosophy crap. I was barely listening. Why would I? It was advanced crap about blood, sweat and tears; sh*t like that. I've never heard a coach talk like that. Pure garbage. But now he finally came up to me. It was during the practice at San Siro and people were there watching, like, "Wow! Ibra is back!"
"Can you play from the start?" Guardiola asked.
"Definitely," I answered.
"But are you prepared?"
"Definitely. I feel fine."
"But are you ready?"
He was like a parrot and I got some nasty vibes.
"Listen, it was a terrible trip, but I'm in good form. The injury is gone. I'll give it my all."

Description: Zlatan Ibrahimovic lays down Manchester derby gauntlet to City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo in
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has laid down a derby day gauntlet to Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo ahead of Saturday's Old Trafford showdown. Veteran Manchester United striker Ibrahimovic, never one to shun the limelight, posted a video to Instagram of him sending a package containing his own branded clothing range to Bravo with the caption: 'Welcome to Manchester! Here's some training gear, you're gonna need it. See you Saturday.'

"I've always been the same player but Conte knows how to treat players having played at the highest level himself."

I have 'unfinished business' in the EPL

Odion Ighalo has admitted he will one day make a move to Chinese football, but insists he is happy in England for the time being.
The Nigeria international was the subject of interest from the Chinese Super League in the off-season transfer window, and was expected to depart Vicarage Road after the club received a £38m bid from big-spending Shanghai SIPG.
However, the 27-year-old didn't feel the time was right to move on, as he feels he still has "unfinished business in England". This after netting 15 goals in the 37 appearances for the Hornets last season.
"I'm not moved by the money from China. When the time comes, I will go to China," the former Udinese said.
"This is not the time to go to go to China. The money is big, the money is crazy, I know.
"And I am not Cristiano Ronaldo, I'm not Messi. I'm not rich, but I'm contented with what I have, I thank God for what I have.
"Week in, week out, my mum and my siblings watch me in action in the best league in the world.
"This is the best league in the world and I hope to keep giving my best every week there.
"And so, I still have unfinished business in England."
Ighalo committed his future to Watford at the start of August, penning a new five-year contract with the Premier League outfit.

Jose vs Pep..this time in England.

As Jose is expected to line up the attacking threat of Martial, Ibrahimovic and Mata, Pep is expected to match him with the trio |of Nolito, Iheanacho and Sterling.
While Jose boast of a reinvigorated midfield chaired by the most expensive player in the world, Paul Pogba, with the help of Fellaini in the holding position and the mercurial captain sitting in front of them, one wonders if Manchester City's midfield of Debruyne, Silva and Fernandinho;'s threat will be enough to match them. Would Jose roll out the bus again and counter attack after fortifying Manchester United's defense of Shaw, Baily,Blind and Anderson?
Whatever tactics, Pep's defense line that parades the likes of Clichy, Stone,Otamendi and Zabaleta is expected to be equal to the task.
With hundred percent record still intact for both Manchester United and Manchester City,Pep Guardiola faces his toughest challenge to date as Manchester City manager when he and his side make the trip to Old Trafford for the biggest game of the Premier League season so far. Saturday’s Manchester derby not only pits two of the country’s biggest rivals against one another, but throws Guardiola up against old adversary Jose Mourinho once more. The Spaniard has the better record, triumphing in eight of their 16 meetings with his Portuguese counterpart, yet admits Mourinho is the superior manager when dealing with the media.
“Off the pitch he’s won,” Guardiola admitted of Mourinho prior to one of the 11 Clasico meetings between the pair during their respective times at Barcelona and Real Madrid. Guardiola rarely ventured in the mind games that Mourinho is famed for, instead focusing his efforts on the pitch.
City blew away all before them in the opening weeks of Manuel Pellegrini’s final campaign at the Etihad Stadium. It wasn’t until Victor Moses’ sixth-minute strike in a 2-1 home defeat to West Ham in the sixth week of the season that City conceded their first league goal, with many tipping the club to secure domestic glory at a canter before the wheels came off their title charge. Guardiola’s City side, though, have been more dominant than Pellegrini’s in the early weeks of the new season.
Guardiola, as is well documented, favours a possession-based approach. Indeed, City this season have had more possession (62.2%, the most in the Premier League) than they did after three matches last term (57.5%). Much of that has been due to the Spaniard’s demands placed on the full-backs, which sees them push up into midfield to form a three in the middle of the park. In a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Fernandinho anchoring the midfield, Gael Clichy or Aleksandar Kolarov on the left and Pablo Zabaleta or Bacary Sagna on the right move up and infield to help gain superiority in midfield.
Not only does this allow City to enjoy more of the ball, but lessens the chance of the team being caught on the counter-attack. This means that Guardiola’s side are regularly in possession and it’s little shock that they are averaging more passes per game (587.3) than any other team in the Premier League this season, a vast increase on the 558 they were attempting after three games last term, while their pass success rate (84.6%) is the third highest in the league.

For all of City’s attacking investment, though, the biggest change comes at the back. The arrival of John Stones means Guardiola has the ideal centre-back to play the ball out from defence. While the England youngster’s defensive deficiencies have been previously highlighted, Stones’ ability to pick out a teammate from the back, coupled with Guardiola’s demand for control, means the 22-year-old has the makings of fulfilling his potential at the Etihad Stadium, with his pass success rate (91.6%) the sixth best of players to start at least one Premier League game this term.
Pellegrini didn’t have a centre-back of Stones’ calibre at his disposal last season, which is perhaps why City are averaging both more possession and passes per game after three matches compared to at the same stage last term. Furthermore, with the centre-backs deployed in a more advanced role, a goalkeeper capable of stepping forward and being comfortable in a side that dominates possession is crucial. Guardiola held no sentiment towards Joe Hart, with he loaned to Torino before the close of the transfer window, with City’s capture of Claudio Bravo bringing the team one piece closer to completing the jigsaw.
The Chilean’s spell with Barcelona means he is accustomed to the demands that come with playing between the sticks for a side that holds onto the ball for lengthy periods of time. His pass success rate last season (84.3%) was better than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s big five leagues with Bravo’s distribution qualities allowing for him to instigate attacks from defence, with this asset to his game far stronger than Hart’s. 38 clean sheets is also more than any other goalkeeper in the last three La Liga seasons, with his shot-stopping ability matching his capability with the ball at his feet.
City’s dominance means they are conceding fewer shots per game after three matches this season (8) than at the same stage last season (9.7), but with Bravo as the last line of defence, they have an effective goalkeeper to help keep opponents at bay. Guardiola’s side may be averaging fewer shots on goal compared to Pellegrini’s (16.7 to 18), but there is a sense that City are evolving for the better, with a measure of control now in place compared to the carefree abandon in the latter manager’s final campaign.
As the debate rages on, one thing remains that one of the sides record must be dented. Would Chelsea's Conte take advantage of whatever spoils?

ROHR ON THE RIGHT PART BUT…........

We just watched a match of a Nigerian Team with a clear cut strategy. A match where Nigeria created a lot of scoring chances but failed to convert most. We can only take a positives from this match and it means that Nigeria if properly guided can cruise to part of greatness again. We saw a Nigerian team that adopted a style of 4-3-3 format. Especially in the midfield where Mikel and Iheanacho shown like million stars. How I wish Conte can continue to field Mikel in this position.(All thanks to SIASIA) for reminding us of the forgotten part of Mikel.
ROHR's part can get even stronger if we can create even more competition in all the positions. Permit me to suggest at least 3 players that can fortify each of the positions.
1) Carl Ikeme has proved that he can be a worthy replacement for Vincent Enyeama though I think we still need our safest hand for the journey ahead. If we can get him back to the fold, i believe the younger keepers like Emmanuel Daniel and Dele Alampasu can learn alot from him. While Emmanuel Daniel appears to be the new Joseph Dosu, I believe Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi can also stay around to compete for the number one spot.
Vincent Enyeama, (Lille France) Carl Ikeme(Wolves England) Emmanuel Daniel (Rangers FC Nigeria) Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United South Africa) Ikechukwu Ezenwa (Ifeanyi Ubah FC Nigeria) Dele Alampasu (CD Fairense Portugal).
2) Musa Mohammed as was seen has shown maturity. He is no longer a youth international but a strong super Eagles material. While I didn’t quite believe that Shehu did a bad job in the same position in the Olympic. I strongly think Musa Mohammed is the real deal in the position as he is an improved Shehu going forward, his crosses are good and he can be a handful to the wingers. His added advantage is that he can be of help to our years of dearth in dead balls as was seen in his days at the Under -17. Efe Ambrose can be said to be aged at the moment in the same position but he is still very useful going forward. If only he can avoid some costly errors and his marking, he can still be very useful for the super Eagles both in the right back and central defence. NFF also needs to consider reaching out to Chelsea’s 19 year old right back Ola Aina and Hull’s top performer last season Moses Odubajo for consideration in the new super Eagles rank. Mikel and Moses’s presence in Chelsea can be of essence in getting Ola to don the green white green ahead of featuring for the three lions.
Musa Mohammed (Istanbul Basaksehir Turkey). Efe Ambrose(Celtic FC Scotland). Shehu Abubakar (Cypriot Anorthosis Cyprus).
3) It is not a surprise that Monaco FC of France farmed Nigerian Left back Elderson Echiegile on loan to Standard liege as he has found first team action very rare. Fabio Coentrao last season and Djibril Sidibe this season meant Echegile had to look for first team action elsewhere. Echiegile as far as I am concerned is still very good for the left back position. The presence of Kingsley Madu of Zulte Weltergem and Stanley Amuzie of FC Sampdoria Italy meant Echiegile must consistently be at his best to maintain his position.
Elderson Echiejile (Standard Liege Belgium) Stanley Amuzie (FC sampdoria Italy) Kingsley Madu (Zulte Weltergem Belgium) Chima Akas (Enyimba FC).
4) The defensive midfield position has not been a problem for Nigeria in the recent time. Nigeria can be said to be rich in this position as we have players scattered all over the world for this position. Outside Mikel’s new found position, he can very well man this position ahead of Ogenyi Onazi. We also have players such as John Ogu who was very outstanding in his club’s capture of Isreali league last season. Anderson Esiti who was named in the Portuguese league top 11 players last season. Azubuike Okechukwu who showed his class in the last Olympic. Mohammed who partnered Azubuike and Mikel very well in the last Olympic and Injury plagued Joel Obi who has failed to live up to his billing as the new Edgar Davis in football. Mikel Agu of Sporting Lisbon and Wilfred Ndidi are also notable names for this position.
Ogenyi Onazi (Trabzonspor Turkey) John Ogu (Hapoel Beer Sheva Isreal) . Azubuike Okechukwu (Yeni Malatyaspor Turkey). Kelechi Nwakali (Arsenal FC).
5) Nigeria’s most problematic position in the recent years has been in the central defense. In 2013, surprise combination of Omeruo/Oboabona produced a superb performance that saw Nigeria clinch long awaited AFCON trophy. It appeared the stock of this players rather than go up has been on the steady decline. Under their partnership Nigeria for the first time in the recent memory has failed to qualify for AFCON back to back. One cannot help but wonder why Chelsea FC would have a player like Omeruo in their folds and still go about practically begging Clubs to sell their Central defenders to join them while looking for funny Turkish Clubs where Omeruo can go and get playing time. This more than tells a lot about Omeruo’s worth in the market at the moment.. Leon Balogun/Ekong’s partnership appeared promising in the back against Tanzania, but the greatest mistake ROHR can make is to jettison the likes of Omeruo, Ambrose and Oboabona and conclude that Eagles have arrived. Leon to me needs more matches to prove that he can dethrone Omeruo/Efe in the centre of Eagles defence. While NFF needs to get Manchester City’s young lanky Adorabioyo to done the colours of Nigeria, we can consider Wilfred Ndidi and Chidozie Awaziem as another option in the back. Ndidi though play as a central midfielder for his club, can as shown in his Under 17 and 20 days play as an anchor man in the central defense. My take, Omeruo/Ekong’s partnership should be given a try.
Kenneth Omeruo (Alanyaspor Turkey)  leon Balogun (Mainz Germany). Chidozie Awaziem (FC Porto).
6) William Troost Ekong appears to be the name that will remain in the lips of Nigerians in a long time. Young, Strong, hard, intelligent and fast. The fair skinned defender has from all indication cemented a position in the Eagles back four. One can only pray for him to secure a contract with a major club that can give him the necessary exposure to compete with best in the world football. Oboabona and Ndid will need to work really hard to take this position from Ekong who through his performance in the Olympic has warmed himself to the heart of Nigerian soccer loving Fans.
Kenneth Otigba of Kasimpasa has also again reached out to NFF to finalise the necessary documents that will enable him represent Nigeria while Queen Park Rangers captain Nedum Onuoha who rejected Nigeria in his prime is now showing a come and get me signal.
William Troost Ekong (Haugesund Norway). Godfrey Oboabona (Rizespor Turkey) Wilfred Ndidi (K.R.C Genk Belgium).
7) This position for some years now has been synonymous with Leicester City’s wing Wizard. Ahmed Musa the Super Eagles Assistant Captain has failed to show his stuff in the recent matches he played for Eagles. He has for the umpteenth time given a below average performance in the Eagles Colour. RoHR must start considering the likes of Imoh Ezekiel who gave a sterling performance in the last Olympic and Brown Ideye though a striker, but has played in that position in the past. Mfon Udoh of Enyimba FC  who has proved to be a consistent scorer from this wing.
Jordon Ibe’s England snub can also be a blessing for Nigeria if needed.
Ahmed Musa (Leicester City FC)  Imoh Ezekiel (AL Arabi Quatar). Brown Ideye (Olympiacos Greece)
8) John Mikel Obi arguably is the best player Nigeria can parade in her midfield at the moment. Mikel can be of assistance going forward, defends very well and supplies defense splitting passes needed to win matches. He has been described as a deep skillful midfielder. He is Nigeria’s Andre Pirlo. As he is getting more and more aged, one cannot help but be happy that the likes  of Oghenekaro Etebo is coming through the rank.
John Mikel Obi (Chelsea FC England) Oghenekaro Etebo   (CD Feirense Portugal) Nosa Igiebor Macabi Tel Aviv Isreal.
9) As blessed as Nigeria is in this position, scoring goals has become a serious challenge that needs immediate solution. Odion Ighalo, the current super Eagles number 9 has again and again failed to replicate his club form in Nigeria’s colour. A team cannot afford to create as many chances as Nigeria created against Tanzania and still managed only one goal from the midfield. Odion’s failure to ignite his club form to the national team has opened a new debate of whether we need Emmanuel Emenike back especially as he appears to have rediscovered his scoring form. Call for speedy resolve of issues regarding Arsenal’s young lad Chuba Akpom’s international future is again back to the front burner. Chisom Chikatara’s performance in the CAF Champions league is again a topic. Ighalo for once needs serious competition, may be, it will help him to notch in the necessary goals needed to propel Eagles to world cup in a group that has the free scoring Algerians and the indomitable (Nigeria’s nemesis) Cameroon.
Odion Ighalo (Watford FC England) Emmanuel Emenike (Fenerbahce Turkey) Aaron Samuel (CSKA Moscow). Victor Osimhen (Wolfburg Germany)
10) The position that has arguably remained void since the ouster of Austin Jay Jay Okocha appears to has receive the necessary respite with the emergence of Kelechi Iheanacho who many has likened to former Super Eagles and Arsenals legend Kanu Nwankwo and Alex Iwobi of Arsenal who appears to be the new Austin Okocha (coincidentally he is Okocha’s nephew).
If Iheanacho is the new Kanu, then Iwobi is the new Okocha. Wait, have you seen Ovie Ejaria of Liverpool?
This generation of players if well managed will certainly bring back the glamour that long left Nigeria since 1996. Josh Onomah of Totenham is another promising young player that we must work hard to get to commit to Nigeria.
Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City FC England). Alex Iwobi (Arsenal FC England). Ovie Ejaria (Liverpool FC England)
11) Victor Moses may not have had the best of matches against Tanzania but we must not be in a hurry to forget his performance against Egypt in Cairo where he did everything possible to fire Nigeria to AFCON 2013. The good thing about competition is that Victor Moses can look back and see Younger Moses Simon who possesses almost exactly the same qualities as his. The fact that Moses Simon can score from free-kick is another plus.
Seyi Ojo of Liverpool FC and Shola Ameobi of Newcastle are other players of Nigeria descent who if captured can provide the much needed competition in Eagles. Before we conclude, we must not forget Isaac Success who though a sharp striker, has featured for Granada FC from the left side of the attack.
Victor Moses (Chelsea FC England). Moses Simon (Genk FC Belgium). Isaac Success (Watford FC England).
With this array of players and the Technical know- how of ROHR who I would have preferred he worked with Samson SIASIA(Under 23 coach) and Emmanuel AMUNIKE( Under 20 coach) as his assistants to save cost and to further prepare this coaches for Super Eagles job in the future.
No matter how you look at it, it will be very difficult for Yusuf and Amama to manage super Eagles as they may not command the necessary respect from the legion of foreign based Nigerian players. If we cannot get coaches that can learn from ROHR, what and what would we
