Moses Simon Fires Second-Half Hat-Trick Against Chinese Club, Kalu & Madu On Song Too

   


Ahead of the resumption of the Belgian First Division A, Gent hammered Chinese club Yanbian Funde F.C 11-0 in an exhibition match on Tuesday, with two Nigerian youngsters finding the net.

New signing from AS Trencin Samuel Kalu sent Gent in front on nine minutes, before setting up Schoofs for the fourth goal scored by the 2015 champions.

Moses Simon and Rabiu Ibrahim were brought on at the start of the second half, and by the 47th minute Gent were 5-0 up thanks to the Super Eagles winger.

Simon netted his second of the game in the 63rd minute before grabbing his hat-trick with 20 minutes left on the clock.

William Troost-Ekong and Anderson Esiti were both named in the starting eleven alongside Samuel Kalu.

 Leading scouts from top European clubs were at Estádio José Alvalade on Sunday night to witness the meeting between Sporting and CD Feirense.

Representatives from Manchester United and Arsenal were at the Stadium presumably to watch Nigeria international Oghenekaro Etebo and the outstanding players in both teams.

Benfica, Genoa, Cologne, Eibar, Yokohama Marinos and Armenia Biefeld scouts also watched from the stands, according to supersporting.net.

On his ninth appearance in the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season, Etebo was in action for 90 minutes .

SALISU in charge of CHAN 2018 qualifiers

The qualifying tournament for the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) will begin on April 20.

The tournament is exclusively reserved for players who are playing in their domestic leagues.

Nigeria debuted at the 2014 edition of the competition in South Africa, where they finished third.

They also featured at the 2016 edition in Rwanda.

Super Eagles chief coach Salisu Yusuf will be in charge of the home-based team and he will be assisted by Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo.

DR Congo are the defending champions.

Kenya will host the 2018 tournament.

Africa get 9 slots in expanded 2026 World Cup

The expanded 48-team World Cup approved by world football governing body FIFA today will see Africa now getting nine slots, four more than they currently enjoy.

An initial stage of 16 groups of three teams will precede a knockout stage for the remaining 32 when the change is made for the 2026 tournament.

The sport's world governing body voted unanimously in favour of the change at a meeting in Zurich today.

In the expanded tournament, Europe will now have 16 teams, three more than what they have now, while South America will now get six automatic slots, upwards from the four automatic and one playoff places.

Asia have four extra spots with eight automatic and a playoff, while Concacaf get six automatic and a playoff slots.

Oceania and host country will have a slot each.

Eagles coach In England For Talks With Chelsea Duo Ola Aina & Tammy Abrahams, Ibe & Anichebe Too

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr arrived England yesterday to hold talks with Anglo-Nigerian players over committing their international future to Nigeria.
Rohr was with Wolverhampton Wanderers shot stopper Carl Ikeme yesterday to check up on the progress of the 30 year old, who only recently returned from an injury that made him miss Nigeria’s last game against Algeria.
The manager will meet with Sunderland forward Victor Anichebe later today over his plans for the power playing forward to return back to the team, he last played for in 2012.
However top of the manager’s menu will be talks with three England youth internationals over switching their international future to Nigeria.
Tammy Abrahams, Ola Aina and Jordon Ibe are all going to meet with the Nigeria manager, who will roll out his plans for them and that of the Super Eagles ahead the resumption of World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

Mikel Ten Million Euros Wage Demand Scuppers Valencia Deal  .
Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has turned down a move to La Liga club Valencia after they failed to meet his wage demands.

The Nigeria skipper found himself out of favour at Stamford Bridge after representing the Dream Team at the 2016 Olympic Games, and his representatives are looking to find him a club in the January transfer window.

Valencia had offered Mikel three million euros wages per season, which was deemed insufficient by the holding midfielder.

A move to Asia looks the most feasible option as he has demanded ten million euros wages per season from interested clubs.

The 29-year-old Mikel is in the final six months of his contract with the Blues.

OPARANOZIE, OSHOALA  Named In AWCON Team Of The Tournament

 

   Nigerian players included in the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament includes  Desire Oparanozie, Asisat Oshoala and Osinachi Ohale .


In a 4-4-2 formation, the Nigeria number 8 led the frontline alongside second highest scorer Oparanozie.

Super Falcons netminder Jonathan Alaba and Washington Spirit striker Francisca Ordega are among the six players on the substitutes bench.

Oshoala scored six goals to win the Golden Boot award while Gabrielle Onguene of Cameroon was named Best Player.
